Facebook fraudsters using my name – Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Pastor E Adeboye
General Overseer, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said some people are impersonating him on Facebook.
He said the impersonators were fond of demanding money from unsuspecting members of the public and he (Adeboye) urged people to verify the authenticity of messages credited to him before heeding to such instructions.
He said, “Please be very careful what you easily fall for. There are some persons going around creating false Facebook pages or names, claiming they are Pastor E. A. Adeboye.
All you have to do is a search for them on Facebook and they will add you and then pretend to be me, telling you to send some money into an account and because they know you will obey me, they are using this as a new form of fraud. Please stop them and report those pages to Facebook so they can be stopped.”
Adeboye said a member of the church had reported to him on how he had been ordered by an impersonator to pay certain sums of money into a bank account for a trip to India.
As of press time, over 3000 comments had been made in response to the Adeboye’s warning.
One of such comments posted by Olawale Oluwaseun read, “Those that want to spoil your name sir, God will punish them with His most dangerous punishment. Bless you sir”
Another fan, Agbodi Desire, said, “Daddy, please don’t mind those 419 people, true Christians will not fall into their trap. God will not allow us to fall into their hands. Thank you for the information Daddy.”
However, some other Facebook users seized the opportunity of the Internet traffic on Adeboye’s post to advertise their products.

JAMB seeks education for physically-challenged

THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has described education as a fundamental human right which should be accessible to everyone, regardless of status.
A statement in Abuja on Wednesday by the JAMB Public Relations Officer, Mr. Timothy Oyedeji, said the board stated this at the just concluded Association of Educational Assessment in Africa conference in Botswana.
JAMB’s position was presented by Dr. Yusuf Lawal and Grace Onoja who observed that there were various groups of physically-challenged people in the society that required special needs including education.
“Lawal specifically said the board had created a special platform “from the point of registration for its examination to the administration and conduct of admission of the visually impaired, albinos and prison inmates,” the statement said.
According to Lawal, this ensures that assessment is designed, developed and administered in ways that treat all people equally and fairly, regardless of differences in personal characteristics.
He further said people with special needs must be identified so that they would be given the necessary support relevant to their needs.
“JAMB has been able to do this by distribution of special schools for special people with special needs,” he said.
Lawal said while JAMB had been able to bridge the gap of fairness and equity in assessment, there were still issues to deal with.

Companion: Mark and Dawn Dumas are constantly accompanied by 18-month-old grizzly bear Billy - even to the local pub
Mark and Dawn Dumas are constantly accompanied by 18-month-old grizzly bear Billy. Incredibly, the enormous creature even follows Mr Dumas to the local pub near Vancouver, Canada. At 5ft on his hind legs, it's easy for Billy to get his paws up onto the bar or the pool table while Mr Dumas and his 51-year-old wife play a game. At home Billy splashes in the pool with Mr Dumas, 61, often playing with his toy inflatable ball.

Cynthia's murder: Management sacks hotel staff for negligence

The management of the hotel where Cynthia Osokogu was murdered on July 22nd have sacked all the staff on duty on the day of the murder.

The management of Cosmilla Hotel, located at Lake View Estate, Amuwo Odofin in Lagos, said they sacked the staff because they breached security protocol of the hotel. Not only did Cynthia's murderers check in with fake IDs, the front desk didn't get Cynthia's details, making it difficult to identify her body after her attackers took away all items that could have helped to identify her. She was in the morgue for over 2 weeks before anyone knew who she was.

Cynthia will be buried September 7.

Mother butchers and eats her own children

Suang Prung Psychiatric Hospital
A Thai mother has been accused of killing, cooking and eating her sons because she thought they were pigs, the Bangkok Post reports.
Police received a complaint last week that the woman, a member of the Musur hill tribe in Thailand’s northernmost district of Chiang Mai,  Mae Ai, allegedly “butchered” her two sons, ages 1 and 5, and proceeded to cook and eat them. According to the Bangkok Post, law enforcement officials allegedly found the woman asleep with several body parts littered around her.
The woman was reported to be suffering from mental illness since 2007 but had stayed off her medication for some months.
Medical reports said she was suffering from hallucination, as she believed that someone was coming to hurt her.
All around the world reports of cannibalism seem to be on the increase. While some have been attributed to delusions and mental illness, in Nigeria, cannibalism and its likes are usually linked to rituals for quick money making.
